Fritton Lake Woodland Lodges
Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
England
England
Description
Surrounded by acres of unspoilt countryside, these beautifully situated lodges nestle in the woodlands of Somerleyton Estate, which boasts a 2-mile stretch of lake at its heart. A tranquil woodland retreat perfect for a peaceful break.
Justifiably proud of its David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation, Fritton Lake offers a wealth of delights for lovers of nature and fishing alike. Somerleyton Hall, with its stunning architecture, superb gardens and famous maze, should not be missed.
During summer, visitors can use the main facilities at nearby Fritton Lake Countryworld, including 9-hole golf and an adventure play area (Apr–Sep).
The Somerleyton Estate, purchased by Sir Francis Crossley in 1863, is still privately owned and the present Lord Somerleyton's son Hugh, maintains elegant and historic Somerleyton Hall as the family residence. Sir Francis built the first woodland lodge next to Fritton Lake in 1864 and more recently so has Hugh, testament to generations of enjoyment the Crossley family have had and which now your family can share.
The estate covers around five thousand acres of entertainment including miles of footpaths, the River Waveney, The Duke's Head free house, Somerleyton Hall & Gardens as well as Fritton Lake and its particularly attractive country surroundings.
